The 2MP active-deterrent T-series bullet
Active-deterrent cameras with built-in strobe and siren do not need to be 4MP or 8MP to do their job. The whole value of the active strobe is that the trespasser sees the light fire and decides not to be on the property tonight. The pixel count of the camera matters for what you do with the footage afterwards, not for whether the deterrent works.
The Hikvision DS-2CD2T26G2-ISU/SL 4mm is the 2MP version of the T-series active-deterrent bullet. Same housing as the 4MP and 6MP equivalents. Same strobe and siren. Same long-range IR illumination. ColorVu full-colour night vision. The trade-off is 2MP rather than 4MP resolution, in exchange for a meaningfully lower price point.
This is the right call for multi-camera installs where active deterrent matters at multiple positions, and the budget is better spent on coverage breadth than on per-camera resolution. Standalone gates on smallholdings. Perimeter walls of larger commercial sites. Industrial yards needing strobe response across multiple positions.
What this camera is actually good at
- 2MP resolution. Sharp at the centre of the frame for general-purpose surveillance and basic identification.
- 4mm lens. 87° horizontal view. Practical balance between scene coverage and reach.
- Built-in strobe and siren. Activated by AcuSense human classification. The active deterrent that turns a passive camera into a real response tool.
- ColorVu full-colour night vision. Maintains colour rendering through the dark.
- Two-way audio. Microphone and speaker for talking through the camera from your phone.
- T-series long-range IR. Up to 30 metres of supplementary illumination at the 2MP T-series specification.
- 120 dB WDR. Harsh light contrast handled cleanly.
- IP67 weather-sealed and IK10 vandal-resistant. Built for exposed perimeter mounting.
Where this camera belongs on your property
- Multi-camera commercial perimeters needing active deterrent at several positions on a tight per-camera budget
- Smallholding gates and outbuilding entries needing strobe response without premium resolution
- Estate and complex perimeter sections where coverage breadth matters more than 4MP detail
- Industrial yard intrusion deterrents at multiple positions across a site
- Body-corporate communal-area cameras where active strobe is the deterrent and identification is handled by other cameras
If you want a tighter view at this level
- The DS-2CD2T26G2-ISU/SL 6mm is the same 2MP active-deterrent camera with a tighter lens for longer perimeter sections.
- The DS-2CD2T26G2-4I 6mm is the passive 2MP T-series option without the strobe and siren, when active deterrent is not needed.
If you want a step up in resolution
- The DS-2CD2T46G2-ISU/SL is the 4MP active-deterrent version. Same strobe and siren, doubled resolution. The right call when identification matters as much as deterrent.
- The DS-2CD2T46G2H-2I 4mm is the 4MP compact passive AcuSense alternative.
Pairs cleanly with the DS-7616NXI-K2 16-channel NVR. Our home CCTV installation guide covers how active and passive cameras work together.
Strobe configuration matters even more on multi-camera installs
When multiple active-deterrent cameras are installed across one property, the configuration becomes more complex. Detection zones must not overlap in ways that cause cross-triggering. Schedule rules need to be consistent. False-positive rates must be calibrated property-wide, not just per camera. We do that work as standard across Pretoria East, Centurion, Midrand, and Johannesburg.

How Hikvision active-deterrent cameras work
