Built for Turbo HD Coax

Compatible with existing analogue cable infrastructure. Reuse your current coaxial wiring when upgrading from older DVR-era systems — no need to rewire the entire property.

4 to 32 Channel Range

Scale to fit your property. 4-channel for small homes, 8-channel for standard households, 16-channel for larger homes and businesses, 32-channel for commercial sites.

AcuSense AI on Select Models

Modern Hikvision iDS-series DVRs bring human and vehicle detection to analogue systems — the same false-alarm reduction available on IP, on Turbo HD cabling.

DVR Size Best For Typical Property
4 Channel Up to 4 cameras Townhouse, apartment, small office
8 Channel 5 to 8 cameras Standard 3-bedroom home, small business
16 Channel 9 to 16 cameras Large home, complex, mid-size business
32 Channel 17 to 32 cameras Commercial site, warehouse, large estate
What is the difference between a DVR and an NVR?

A DVR (Digital Video Recorder) connects to analogue cameras over coaxial cable (Turbo HD or HDTVI). An NVR (Network Video Recorder) connects to IP cameras over Ethernet network cable. They are not interchangeable — Turbo HD cameras need a DVR, IP cameras need an NVR. If you have existing coax cable runs from an older system, a DVR upgrade lets you reuse that infrastructure.

Can I use a Hikvision DVR with IP cameras?

Not directly. DVRs are designed for analogue Turbo HD signals over coaxial cable. If you have IP cameras, you need an NVR instead. Some hybrid recorders accept both, but for a primarily IP setup an NVR is the right choice.

How many channels do I need?

Match the channel count to your current camera count plus headroom for future expansion. A 4-camera system on a 4-channel DVR has no room to grow. The same setup on an 8-channel DVR gives you space to add 4 more cameras later without replacing the recorder. We sell 4, 8, 16 and 32 channel DVRs to suit any property size.

How much hard drive storage do I need?

Storage depends on camera count, resolution and recording mode. A typical 8-camera 4MP system recording 24/7 needs around 4TB for 30 days of footage. AcuSense models can reduce this by 50% or more by only recording when motion is detected. We size the hard drive to your retention requirement during the free site inspection.

Can I view my Hikvision DVR remotely on my phone?

Yes. Every modern Hikvision DVR works with the Hik-Connect mobile app for live viewing, playback and push notifications. Configuration is included as part of every installation we do — you receive a live test notification before we leave the property.

Do you supply DVRs across South Africa?

Yes. We supply Hikvision DVRs nationwide. For installation we cover Pretoria East, Centurion, Midrand and Johannesburg. Larger commercial installations available nationwide on request.
