The NVR is the hub of a VIGI system. It powers and records every camera, stores footage locally on a surveillance-grade hard drive, and handles configuration, detection settings and firmware centrally rather than camera by camera. Recording happens on site, with no monthly subscription and no footage held behind a paywall.

Choosing the right channel count

The channel count on the recorder is a hard ceiling. An 8-channel NVR takes eight cameras and no more, so it is worth thinking a step ahead. A four-camera system on an 8-channel recorder has room to double. An eight-camera system on the same recorder is full, and adding a ninth camera means replacing the NVR rather than adding to it.

If you expect the system to grow, say so before installation and we will specify a larger recorder from the start. It costs very little extra up front and saves replacing hardware later.
