Grey-import cameras (brought in outside official channels) are common in the South African market and usually look cheaper, but they have no local warranty support and can be a pain to update. Yes, if you have basic electrical and networking experience. Hikvision IP cameras connect over Cat5e or Cat6 ethernet to a PoE-capable NVR, which carries both data and power on one cable.
