The 4MP AcuSense dome with reach

Most indoor dome positions sit 2 to 3 metres above the activity area, where a wide-angle 2.8mm lens captures the whole space at usable detail. Some installations have higher ceilings: warehouses, double-volume retail, large open-plan offices, sports halls, and any space where the camera is 4 metres or more above the floor.

The Hikvision DS-2CD2146G2H-ISU with the 4mm lens is the version we install in those positions. Same 4MP resolution, same AcuSense AI, same audio capture, same dome housing as the wide-angle version. The 4mm lens captures roughly an 84° horizontal field of view, less of the scene but with more usable detail per person on the floor below. The right trade-off when ceiling height makes wide lenses lose detail at floor level.

High ceiling installs need precise alignment

The further the camera is from the activity area, the more important precise alignment becomes. A few degrees off at 5 metres above the floor puts the identification zone in the wrong place. We do precision alignment, focus locking, and live testing on every install across Pretoria East, Centurion, Midrand, and Johannesburg.
