TP-Link Tapo C500 Outdoor Pan-Tilt WiFi Camera
The Tapo C500 is a weatherproof outdoor WiFi camera with a motorised head. Instead of a fixed view, it pans a full 360 degrees and tilts 130 degrees, so a single camera can watch a whole yard, a long driveway or two entrances at once. When it detects a person, it turns to follow them and sends an alert to your phone.
Because it connects over WiFi and records to a microSD card inside the camera, there is no data cable to run and no recorder to buy. Each camera needs only a 12V power cable, which makes the C500 a good fit for rentals, townhouse complexes with cabling rules, and homes with finished ceilings.

Tapo C500 FAQs
Does the Tapo C500 need a cable?
Yes, a power cable. WiFi replaces the video cable back to a recorder, not the power supply. The camera runs on 12V DC.
Does the Tapo C500 work at night?
Yes. Infrared night vision gives black and white footage up to 30m in darkness. For colour footage at night, the Tapo C560WS uses a starlight sensor and spotlights.
Do I need a subscription?
No. The camera records to a microSD card inside it, and live view, playback and alerts work through the free Tapo app.
Will it work on 5GHz WiFi?
No. The C500 connects on 2.4GHz WiFi only. Most home routers broadcast 2.4GHz alongside 5GHz, so this is rarely a problem, but signal strength at the camera position matters. We test it during the free site inspection on installed packages.
What warranty does it carry?
A 2-year manufacturer warranty, sourced through authorised South African distribution. Installed packages add our 12-month workmanship warranty.
