Not every camera position needs the latest generation. The Hikvision DS-2CD2T46G2-ISU/SL is the previous-generation T-series 4MP AcuSense bullet with built-in strobe and siren. It does not have the G2H generation’s improved low-light sensor or the latest WDR refinements, but it has everything that actually matters for active-deterrent CCTV at a residential or small-business scale: AcuSense AI, 4MP resolution, built-in strobe, siren, two-way audio, and the long-throw IR illumination that makes it useful in total darkness.

We still install this camera regularly. It is the pragmatic choice when the budget needs balancing across a multi-camera package, when a previous customer wants to add a matching unit to an existing system, or when the position simply does not justify the upgrade cost of the latest generation. What this camera is actually good at

• 4MP resolution. Sharp face and number-plate detail in normal use, plus clear footage of the strobe-induced retreat when an active alert fires.
• Built-in strobe and siren. Activated by AcuSense human classification, configurable to specific times and modes. The active deterrent that turns a passive recording device into a real response tool.
• AcuSense onboard AI. Human and vehicle classification on the camera itself. Same AI engine as the rest of the AcuSense range, just on the previous-generation processor.

• The DS-2CD2T46G2H-IS2U/SL 2.8mm is the current G2H-generation version of this camera. Same active deterrent concept, improved low-light sensor, refined WDR.
• The DS-2CD2086G2H-I ColorVu 8MP drops the active strobe but doubles the pixel count and gives you full-colour night footage. The right call for positions where identification quality matters more than active response.
• The DS-2CD2646G2HT-IZS 2.8 to 12mm swaps to a motorised zoom lens. Useful when one camera needs to flex between wide and tight views.

If you want to compare at this level

• The DS-2CD2T46G2H-2I 4mm is the compact-housing passive version (no strobe). The right call when active deterrent is not the priority and a smaller, lower-profile camera fits the position.

The active strobe and siren only function as security tools when their detection zones, sensitivity thresholds, schedules, and trigger conditions are properly configured.
