The VIGI C540V solves a problem that costs people money on most installations: a wide-angle camera shows you the whole scene but no useful detail, and a zoomed camera shows you detail but misses everything happening outside its narrow view. The C540V has two lenses in one housing and does both at once.
Two lenses, one mounting point
One lens holds the wide overview so you can see the whole area and what is happening in it. The second lens zooms, up to 3x optically, so you can pull in a face at the gate or a number plate on the driveway without losing the wider picture. On a normal installation that job takes two separate cameras and two cable runs. Here it is one unit, one cable, one channel on the recorder.
Pan, tilt and auto tracking
The whole head pans and tilts under motorised control, and auto tracking turns the camera to follow a detected person or vehicle rather than watching them leave the frame. Customised patrol routes let it sweep a set sequence of positions on a schedule, and power-off memory returns it to its last position after an outage, which is worth having in a country with load shedding.
Full colour at night
Four illuminators across the front deliver full-colour night imaging rather than black-and-white infrared. On a driveway or forecourt, colour is what turns footage into something usable: the colour of a vehicle, the colour of clothing, detail worth putting in a statement.
Where it earns its place
This is the camera for a long driveway, a large yard, a business forecourt or a boom gate, anywhere you need both context and detail from a single position. It is a more expensive camera than a fixed bullet, and on a small townhouse it would be overkill. On a property with a long approach, it often replaces two or three cameras.
