The entry-level 2MP Turbo HD bullet
If you already have an analogue CCTV system, the wiring is the part you do not want to touch. Coax cables run through walls, under driveways, and into ceiling voids that were finished off years ago. Ripping all of that out to upgrade to IP is a destructive, expensive job. The Hikvision Turbo HD range is the answer to that problem: cameras that deliver near-IP image quality over the existing analogue coax, into a Hikvision Turbo HD DVR.
The DS-2CE16D0T-EXIPF is the entry-level 2MP Turbo HD bullet with EXIR night vision. It runs over your existing RG59 cabling with standard BNC connectors. It plugs into any current Hikvision Turbo HD DVR like the iDS-7216HQHI-M2/S. It gives you sharp 2MP detail, 20 metres of EXIR night vision range, IP67 weather sealing, and a smart supplementary white light option — all at the price point of an entry-level analogue camera.
What this camera is actually good at
- 2MP resolution over coax. 1920 × 1080 — sharp enough for face identification at close range and number plates at the gate.
- EXIR night vision up to 20m. Hikvision’s EXIR illumination produces a more even spread of infrared light than standard IR, with less hotspotting and more usable range. The camera switches to monochrome at night for clearest IR capture.
- Smart supplementary white light. Optional white light supplement that can be triggered for active deterrent or colour rendering when activated — useful at entry points where visible response matters.
- Standard Turbo HD output over RG59 coaxial cable with BNC connectors. Plug-and-play with Hikvision Turbo HD DVRs.
- Switchable TVI / AHD / CVI / CVBS signal output for compatibility with most current and legacy DVR ranges.
- Digital WDR for handling backlit scenes like driveways with bright sky and shadowed entry areas.
- IP67 weather-sealed housing. Outdoor rated for Highveld weather — heavy rain, dust and full sun exposure.
- Compact bullet form factor. 138.8 × 60.9 × 57.9mm, 145g — suits residential and small-business positions without dominating the wall.
Where this camera belongs on your property
- Existing analogue system upgrades where you want to swap aging cameras without rewiring
- Front-of-house positions on Turbo HD systems — gates, driveways, entrances, perimeter walls
- Cluster homes and townhouses with existing coax infrastructure
- Small business shopfronts on existing Turbo HD systems
- Budget-conscious new installs where the lower per-camera cost of Turbo HD over IP makes the maths work
If you want different feature sets
- The DS-2CE16D0T-LPXTS 2.8mm adds active strobe deterrent, useful where visible active response matters more than discreet recording.
- The DS-2CE10DF3T-LPFS 2.8mm is the slim ColorVu Turbo HD alternative if you specifically want full-colour night vision without supplementary lighting.
- The DS-2CE16D0T-LFS 2.8mm is the standard IR (non-EXIR) Turbo HD bullet at a slightly lower price point, for positions where 20m EXIR range is more than needed.
If you want to step up to IP
- The DS-2CD2047G3-LIY 2.8mm is the equivalent IP camera with ColorVu and AcuSense AI. Different category, different cabling, but the right call when you are building a new IP-based system rather than upgrading an existing analogue one.
DVR pairings
This camera pairs with any current Hikvision Turbo HD DVR. The iDS-7216HQHI-M2/S 16-channel DVR is the standard 16-channel pairing for properties wanting room to grow within the Turbo HD range. Smaller installs use 4 or 8-channel Turbo HD DVRs.
Turbo HD installation, properly done
Turbo HD installation is mechanically simpler than IP, but configuration still matters. We do detection-zone setup, IR transition tuning, motion sensitivity calibration, and Hik-Connect mobile app integration as standard on every install across Pretoria East, Centurion, Midrand, and Johannesburg.
Full 3-year Hikvision South Africa warranty through authorised distribution. Pricing on the CCTV installation prices page.
