The VIGI NVR2016H is the recorder to specify when eight channels is not enough. It handles up to 16 cameras, and with two drive bays instead of one it holds considerably more footage history than the smaller units in the range.
Room to grow, and room to remember
The channel count on a recorder is a hard ceiling. Fill an 8-channel unit and adding a ninth camera means replacing the recorder, not adding to it. Sixteen channels gives most properties somewhere to go, and the two SATA bays take up to 16TB each, which is the difference between a couple of weeks of footage and several months of it.
There is also an eSATA port for external storage, useful where retention requirements are unusually long or where footage needs to be archived off the unit.
See everything at once
All 16 channels display on a single screen for live view, and the unit supports 16-channel synchronous playback, so you can replay the same moment across every camera at the same time rather than opening them one at a time. When you are trying to work out how someone moved across a property, that is the feature that saves the afternoon.
Video output runs to 4K over HDMI, with VGA alongside it, so a monitor connected at the recorder shows real detail rather than a downscaled preview.
Two-way audio
Audio in and audio out are both on the back panel, so with a microphone and speaker connected the recorder supports two-way conversation as well as recording. Combined with VIGI cameras that have their own speaker and microphone, this gives you talk-back from wherever you are.
Straightforward to commission
New VIGI cameras are discovered and added automatically, so bringing a system up is quick and clean. Management runs through the VIGI app, the web interface, the recorder’s own interface, or VIGI Security Manager on a computer, whichever suits how the site is run.
