The 8-channel NVR built for AcuSense smart search

The 8-channel Q1 series NVRs handle recording and playback well at the standard level. The Hikvision DS-7608NXI-K2 is the step up: the next-generation 8-channel NVR with full AcuSense smart search support. Where the standard NVRs replay AcuSense-filtered events, this unit lets you actually search the recorded footage by AI classification.

What that means in practice: ‘Show me every human that crossed the driveway between 22:00 and 04:00 last Friday.’ Result in seconds, not eight hours of scrubbing. ‘Show me every vehicle that turned left out of the gate after dark for the past week.’ Done. The smart-search capability turns a recorder from a passive evidence locker into an active investigation tool.

For installations where AcuSense AI cameras are the foundation (which is most installations we do now) this is the NVR that lets you get the most out of the AI you have already paid for at the camera level.

This is the non-PoE version

For most fresh 8-camera installs, the DS-7608NXI-K2/8P with the built-in 8-port PoE switch is the more sensible choice. The non-PoE version makes sense when an existing PoE switch is on site, or when the cabinet layout requires a separate switch anyway.

• The DS-7616NXI-K2 doubles to 16 channels for properties heading past 8 cameras.

If you want to compare at this level

• The DS-7108NI-Q1 is the entry-level 8-channel without smart search. The right call when the install is not centred on AcuSense AI cameras and the budget needs to focus on cameras rather than recorder features.
